On this episode of ‘The Gadget Show’ Suzi and Jason go head to head in a full-on phone application battle! While most people would not have heard of ‘apps’ 18 months ago, all the major cellphone manufacturers now host online app stores where mobile games, utilities and programs can be downloaded. The market leader, the Apple App store, has a whopping 75,000 apps available. It is a massive market to break into, so Suzi and Jason have their work cut out...

After doing some market research to discover which apps are most popular with smartphone owners, Suzi decides to design a game. With the help of a team of developers, she comes up with ‘Biker Blast Off’, a fast and furious motorcycle stunt game. Meanwhile, Jason decides that a social-networking application is the way to go. With the help of a web developer, he comes up with an app called ‘Social Beacon’, which allows users to send status updates to Facebook and Twitter without typing. Who will notch up the most downloads after one month?

Also this time, car-lover Jon Bentley takes a look at the extraordinary gadgetry loaded into modern cars, designed to make them safer and easier to drive. To find out if all that tech is actually necessary, he sends writer and presenter Danny Wallace to a racetrack in a spectacular £100,000, 518bhp Audi R8 V10 supercar. How will this bad boy perform without any special features?

And finally, Ortis Deley meets up with Radio One DJ Greg James to test a mountain of headphones. After an exhaustive search the intrepid duo give their verdict on the top five on the market.
